Gina Ortiz, PA-C, is our board-certified Physician Assistant who practices Integrative Medicine and specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of cancers of the skin. She has received special training to perform full skin cancer screening exams using a dermatoscope. A dermatoscope is a noninvasive powerful tool used in the screening and detection of skin cancer. Dermoscopy can also be used for rapid diagnosis of other skin conditions such as vascular lesions, dermatitis, molluscum contagiosium, and scabies.
Since 2018 she has attended multiple American Dermoscopy meetings and furthered my training at University of New Mexico (UNM) Skin Cancer Center. She also volunteers each year with the UNM Skin Cancer Center to perform free skin cancer screenings across the state in rural areas. She is committed to detecting skin cancer such as melanoma, basal cell carcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma.
